Seems like this crossover was made of LEGOs. Plus, suuuper whiplash. The airbag straight up !!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!! 'd the dummy. !!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!! !!!

Interesting.
The biggest thing I find odd about this is they remove the head restraint - these are no longer called "head rests" because they are actually a pretty vital component to crash safety. "his" head definitely wouldn't have whipped like that if they hadn't pulled the head restraint. I have to say I'm kind of impressed, that's a pretty solid small overlap test. Most are horrendous.

I have to admit, the face prints get me every time.

The tire came clean off the rim. Impressive.

Seems like a lot of over made-up women might make a similar mark these days....

Really surprised how well the Kia did. I watched a bunch more and all I can say is side window airbags make a huge difference.

for rear impacts, some have integrated collapsible pieces or shock mechanisms. Still like you said, why they take them off, i'm not 100% sure. Probably for camera angles

yeah that's odd but cool!

i'm sure of it :]

i haven't seen that in any other test. Kind of neat but odd for sure

I guess they aren't concerned with whiplash in the test, but it seems like you'd want to know that too.

they usually leave a paint mark on it. Some that have structure fail can at least bet on the side airbag to help a little

I agree, the wrecks with no side window airbags look way worse, the head flys around way more or bounces off the window\pillar.
![]() 02/19/2015 at 12:17 |

yeah the ones where the dummy's head hit the failed/sharp A-pillar are terrifying

My girlfriend is in the small SUV market right now and we are looking at CX-5's, Rogues, Equinox and such so I really like looking at these haha.

I remember one of these that you posted (can't remember if it was an old Crossover or old Minivan) but with the small overlap test, the head actually went between the airbag coming out of the side window, as well as the steering wheel.
Needled right through both airbags perfectly and the head slammed right into the A-pillar.
Needless to say, it did not get a passing rating.

i've been trying to remember which one for the last 10 minutes about that exact one lol.

I hope the IIHS realizes that there is an easier way to unmount a tire.

I now know what to look for if someone hits me while putting on mascara. Should lighten the mood.
![]() 02/19/2015 at 12:53 |

But is there a faster way?
![]() 02/19/2015 at 12:53 |

LOL
sure would.
![]() 02/19/2015 at 13:10 |

well that's the fastest way to de-rim a tire.
